Pyrum Innovations AG: Hot commissioning of lines 2 and 3 started in Dillingen

  • Production start imminent
  • The throughput of reactor 2 will soon be increased to 75 %, followed by line 3

Dillingen /Saar, 30 October 2023 – Pyrum Innovations AG (“Pyrum”, the “Company”, ISIN: DE000A2G8ZX8), a pioneering company that sustainably recycles used tyres with its globally patented, unique pyrolysis technology, announces the successful start of the warm commissioning of reactors 2 and 3 at its main plant in Dillingen/Saar. This means that the first oil will soon be produced from the new plants. The licensing authorities have already given the green light for the start of production.

In the last few weeks, cold commissioning has been completed and all parts have been calibrated and tested. Automatic operation has already been tested over several weeks and staff training has been completed. The system has been filled with all media, the leak test has been carried out and is ready for production. As soon as this has started, the throughput of the first new line will be successively ramped up to 75 %. All the experience gained from line 2 is then transferred to line 3 and line 3 is also ramped up to a throughput of 75 % as quickly as possible. Both lines are then gradually ramped up to 100 %. The entire process up to full capacity utilisation is carried out as quickly as possible, but can take several months.

Pascal Klein, CEO of Pyrum Innovations AG: “We are very pleased that we will soon be starting production in our two new lines. The cold commissioning, which has already been completed, and the hot commissioning, which has already started, have gone extremely well and we are very satisfied. We are now on the last few metres of our site expansion in Dillingen, tripling our capacity to 20,000 tonnes of used tyres per year. At the same time, our work on six other sites is progressing rapidly.”

In addition, the ESG rating agency EcoVadis once again awarded Pyrum Innovations AG silver status in its annual recertification, confirming the sustainability of the Pyrum business model.

About Pyrum Innovations AG

Pyrum Innovations AG is active in the attractive recycling market for used tyres and various plastics with its patented thermolysis technology. Pyrum’s thermolysis process is largely energy self-sufficient and, according to the Fraunhofer Institute, saves significantly more CO2 emissions than today’s standard recycling processes for used tyres – especially compared to incineration in cement plants – and produces new raw materials such as thermolysis oil, gas and recycled carbon black (rCB) from the waste used as input materials. In this way, Pyrum closes the material cycle and pursues a 100% sustainable business model. As a pioneer, Pyrum Innovations AG was the first company in the field of used tyre recycling to receive REACH registration from the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) for the thermolysis oil it produces back in 2018. This means that the oil is recognised as an official raw material that can be used in production processes. In addition, Pyrum has received ISCC PLUS certification for the thermolysis oil and the rCB. Both products are therefore recognised as sustainable and renewable raw materials. Pyrum has also received ISO 14001 certification for its environmental management system and ISO 9001 certification for its quality management system. These successes have also been recognised by international experts in the tyre industry. For example, Pyrum was honoured at the first Recircle Awards in the category Best Tyre Recycling Innovation and has been a finalist for the German SME award three times in a row.
