Federal Environment Minister Svenja Schulze visits Pyrum Innovations AG

Dillingen / Saar, August 25, 2021 – Pyrum Innovations AG, a pioneering company that recycles end-of-life-tires sustainably with its globally patented, unique pyrolysis technology, yesterday received a visit from Federal Environment Minister Svenja Schulze. Together with Anke Rehlinger, Saarland's Minister for Economic Affairs, Labor, Energy and Transport and Deputy Minister President, and Patrick Lauer, District Administrator of the Saarlouis district, the Federal Minister saw for herself how the Pyrum recycling process works and which advantages it offers during a tour around the plant in Dillingen/Saar and in talks with the management.

Pascal Klein, CEO of Pyrum Innovations AG: "We were very pleased about the visit of Svenja Schulze, Anke Rehlinger and Patrick Lauer, as it underlines the growing importance and acceptance of our technology, thanks to which we are taking another step towards the transformation to a circular economy. With the help of our pyrolysis process, we recover new raw materials from end-of-life-tires, and we do so with a saving in CO2 emissions of almost 100% compared to conventional disposal methods, such as burning the end-of-life-tires in cement plants."

The visit of the two ministers highlights Pyrum's role as a Saarland showcase company in the field of innovative environmental technology. Among other things, the talks focused on the technological advantage of the process used by Pyrum. In addition to the considerable CO2 savings, the pyrolysis process developed by Pyrum reduces the formation of harmful PAHs (Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons) to an absolute minimum. Furthermore, the high quality of the raw materials, which is guaranteed by the consistently high temperature in the Pyrum pyrolysis reactor, was emphasized in the discussions. In fact, Pyrum is the only European company to have received REACH certification from the EU for its pyrolysis oil obtained from end-of-life-tires.

Since May 2020, the recycling plant in Dillingen has been running without interruption; 130 tons of end-of-life-tires are recycled every week and the recovered raw materials - including oil, gas and carbon - are returned to the material cycle. Pyrum plans to build numerous additional plants across Europe in the coming years and is in promising talks to expand cooperation with well-known partners from industry.

About Pyrum Innovations AG

Pyrum Innovations AG is active in the attractive recycling market for end-of-life-tires with its patented pyrolysis technology. Pyrum's pyrolysis plants are completely energy self-sufficient, save almost 100 % of the CO2 normally generated for the disposal of end-of-life-tires in a cement plant and produces new raw materials such as pyrolysis oil, gas and recovered carbon black from the waste used as input materials. In this way, Pyrum closes the recyclable material

cycle and pursues a 100% sustainable business model. As a pioneer, Pyrum Innovations AG was the first company in the end-of-life-tires recycling sector to receive REACH certification from the EU for the pyrolysis oil it produces. This means that the oil is recognized as an official raw material. In addition, Pyrum is continuously researching new input materials as well as new raw materials to be produced, such as the successful ongoing tests for the extraction of hydrogen from the gas obtained by means of the patented technology. These achievements have also been recognized by international experts in the tire industry. For example, Pyrum won the Best Tyre Recycling Innovation category at the inaugural Recircle Awards.
