The aim of the project is to develop a two-stage recycling process for end-of-life polyurethane combined from hydrothermal carbonisation (HTC) with subsequent pyrolysis and accompanying analysis for closing the loop and product recovery. The focus is on the production and their testing for suitability as saleable raw materials such as carbon black, expanded graphite and activated carbon. Furthermore, liquid products from the combined process are to be used as substitutes for fossil raw materials.
The team of Pyrum Innovations AG is responsible for the second thermal treatment of the combined recycling process. Here, the pyrolysis process is optimised in a targeted manner to recover valuable raw materials in high quality on a laboratory scale.
