The \u201cGreen Marathon\u201d 100 % is manufactured using recycled carbon black (rCB) from Pyrum, which is a&nbsp;direct product of the recycling process and replaces fossil carbon black.<\/p>\n<p>The production of the innovative bicycle tyre saves more than a&nbsp;third of CO2eQ compared to the predecessor model. To determine the CO2 savings, a&nbsp;detailed product carbon footprint (PCF) was calculated for both models and analysed in accordance with the current IPCC AR6 standard (GWP 100, excl. biogenic CO2).<\/p>\n<p>Pascal Klein, CEO of Pyrum Innovations AG: \u201cThe Green Marathon is an impressive example of how Pyrum and its partners can close the material loop. Together with Schwalbe, we will continue to work on creating environmentally friendly solutions for the tyre industry and continuously expand recycling opportunities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A new benchmark in terms of environmental friendliness: the \u201cGreen Marathon\u201d is the first product to emerge from the Schwalbe Recycling System. This is a&nbsp;joint project between Pyrum, Ralf Bohle GmbH and the Cologne University of Applied Sciences, which enables the world\u2019s first and to date only holistic process for recycling used bicycle tyres. In total, the \u201cGreen Marathon\u201d consists of 70 % recycled and renewable materials, uses only fairly traded natural rubber and thus closes the material cycle.
