Dillingen/Saar, 23 November 2021 – Pyrum Innovations AG (“Pyrum”) will celebrate the expansion of its pyrolysis plant in Dillingen/Saar with a groundbreaking ceremony on 25 November 2021 at 1:00 p.m., and is pleased to welcome Anke Rehlinger, Saarland’s Minister for Economic Affairs, Labour, Energy and Transport, and Reinhold Jost, Saarland’s Minister for the Environment and Consumer Protection, to the event. Ms Rehlinger and Mr Jost will perform the symbolic groundbreaking together with Pyrum Innovations AG’s CEO, Pascal Klein, officially marking the start of the expansion of the plant by two further production lines. The investment volume amounts to approximately EUR 25 million and will be implemented largely by companies based in Saarland.
Pyrum has developed a patented recycling process that enables the company to recover new raw materials such as pyrolysis oil, gas and recovered Carbon Black from end-of-life tyres, thereby closing the material cycle. Thanks to its connected combined heat and power plant, the pyrolysis plant operates completely energy self-sufficiently and saves up to 98% of the CO2 emissions typically generated when end-of-life tyres are disposed of in a cement plant. To date, the plant has consisted of a single production line, which has been operating at industrial scale since May 2020. The expansion by two further reactors, housed in two towers approximately 25 metres high, will triple processing capacity to around 20,000 tonnes of end-of-life tyres per year.
